Exciting and fresh news for the fans
Dallas Braden must have thought that the perfect game was nothing more than a curse that was going to haunt him for a long time. After that memorable game there have been some troubling gaps in form. He has now posted his first win since that game and it surely must settle the nerves for the future fixtures. Bobby Valentine has expressed an interest in managing the Chicago Cubs. It remains to be seen whether the feeling is mutual. Valentine has been doing a stint as an ESPN analyst following his stellar career at the New York Mets. If he was to take on the post it would be a challenge that he could use to launch him into the highest levels of management in the MLB baseball community.
There was some worrying news when Eugenio Velez suffered from concussion. He has been a player for the San Francisco Giants and has been allocated to the outfield section. The foul ball was responsible and he will be travelling home with his colleagues. It seems that Brad Hawpe will need a lot of prayers after some bad forum with one for eighteen in this month alone. He has had no home runs so far since this calendar month began. There are the sore ribs to think about and there are even rumors of a trade off. We wish him a good recovery and hopefully a return to good form soon. Despite the numerous injuries that he comes with the Marlins are not willing to give away Leo Nunez. He must be doing something right.
Some players are so good that an injury or a run of bad form is not good enough to get rid of them. This is a wise move because in MLB baseball some of the people that have experienced terrible injuries are the ones that are giving the game a good name with their exciting play. Had they been thrown on the heap the sport would be a poorer place. I am all for rehabilitation and the time for players to get back to their best.

A review of some recent events for golf
Lee Westwood will be anticipating his Europe Ryder Cup captaincy in the next season. He has never had the top sport but one can continue to dream in the circumstances. This is not to say that he does not have the capabilities. In fact he is one of the great players on the team and perhaps his day will come at some point. His dreams are still waiting for their fruition but when the time comes it is safe to speculate that the results will be excellent. There is also some news that Luke Donald has achieved a third place in the Canadian Open. This could act as a stepping stone to his inclusion in the Ryder Cup team. The gold rankings remain quite close with just one point between the top three golfers. This is a good situation after the almost boring dominance of Tiger Woods.
The Euro tour will be taking camp in Bahrain in the inaugural setting for this particular location. One hopes that the events will go smoothly for all the players and the fans. We can also report that Carl Pettersson has won the Canadian Open. The winning score was helped by one shot. It was a game of nerves and determination. There was excellent news for the home crowd when Richard Johnson won the Scandinavian Masters with a thirty food birdie putt. Edoardo Molinari is not happy with the third place because of his ambitions to join the Ryder Cup table for the European team. Bernard Langer has won the Senior Open Championship at Carnoustie. This is his first senior major trophy and one can only hope that there will be more in the pipeline.
It has been reported that Jiyai Shin has won the Evian Masters but it was something of a nerve wrecker. South Korea will be proud of their player and the achievements that have come to the national team. Mamo Osani has also won the Sega Sammy Cup. There was a tournament record when Carl Pettersson managed the ten under par at the sixty. This is one vital statistic to keep for the Canadian Open.
Ivan Calderon decides to defend his title
It seems that Ivan Calderon has chosen to defend his WBO Junior Flyweight Championship despite having a major setback in the second round. He was knocked down but it seems that he is not out yet. It remains to be seen whether he will have the stamina and fitness to successfully defend his title but judging by what happened in the second round, the chances are not very good. The action will take place in New York and I am sure that some journalists will be prepared to take it to the young man if he fails to live up to the promise that he gave when he won the WBO title. He will be fighting against Jesus Iribe and should be prepared for a challenging match that might end up worse that his second round jousts.
At thirty five years, Calderon is at thirty zero one and has six Kos. He managed to get the unanimous decision partly due to the speed and movement that he used to subdue his less agile opponent. This was despite being sent down south in the second round. Experience also had a role to play because he did not lose focus on the match or waver in his determination to claim the prize. All three judges decided that Calderon was the winner with a one hundred and eighteen score to a one hundred and nine score for his opponent. A third closer came out at one hundred and sixteen points to the opponent’s one hundred and eleven points.
It seems that the decision was popular with fans that believed in Calderon even when he was down and seemingly out. The way that he put his act together showed that he had done his home work and was prepared to execute it at the crucial points in the match. It would have been unfortunate it if the knock down had been the sole determining factor when there was plenty of boxing for the public to enjoy in the contest. The final result was fair and it gave him a boost for the final.
